Coober Pedy is the largest supplier of Opal in the world.
At about one thousand kilometres north of Adelaide in South Australia, it is also renowned for its scorching desert heat, with half the population living underground.
Vast desolate vistas taunt the camera and play upon the inadequacies of even the widest of lenses, acting as a constant reminder that the edge of the world is very far away.
Yet, with over one million uncovered mineshafts, the edge is never far away.
