Facing Bate Bay

The Cronulla locals are a hardy lot.

Many of them are in the ocean all year round with some swimming around ‘Shark Island’ every day, and that pretty much say’s it all.

Photographed along the Esplanade, the plain-painted concrete walls of surf-side pavilions serve as backdrop to a strength of character, apparent well after the initial smiles for the camera have gone.

This series was exhibited at Hazelhurst Gallery.
